Her work as a curator of public programs included strategic partnerships with The Park Avenue Armory (2019), WNYC’s The Greene Space (2015-2017), and NYC Parks and the NYPL (2015-2017). Recent exhibitions include Made Visible Freedom Dreams at Creative Arts Workshop (Winter 2023), Somewhere in Advance of Nowhere: Freedom Dreams in Contemporary Art at the Samuel Dorsky Museum of Art (Winter 2022) RED at Welancora Gallery (Summer 2021) Home Body at Sapar Contemporary (Spring 2021) and Treacherous with Old Magic at Future Fairs (Winter 2020). Upcoming exhibitions include Embodied Knowledge at the Ely Center of Contemporary Art (Summer 2023) and Century: 100 Years of Black Art at MAM at the Montclair Art Museum (Winter 2024). As a curatorial consultant, she’s recently supported strategic initiatives at the Legacy Museum, the New Britain Museum of American Art, the Arizona State University Art Museum, and the Association of Art Museum Curators. Working primarily as an independent curator, nico has produced group exhibitions for international art fairs, cultural institutions, and nonprofit and commercial galleries. In curatorial roles, nico served as executive director at NXTHVN (2019-2020) curatorial director at Rush Arts Gallery (2007-2010) and curatorial assistant at the Studio Museum in Harlem (2006-2007).
